“The glory of a good man is the testimony of a good conscience. Keep a good conscience and thou shalt always have joy. A good conscience can bear very much and is very joyful in the midst of adversity. A bad conscience is always fearful and uneasy.”
    — Thomas á Kempis, p.59
God bless you Prof. Marshall, and those you love.

Your podcasts are great! Are they available in printed form, for those who are hard-of-hearing?

This from one of your blogger’s “we must feed ourselves before we can feed others.” I plan to share this quote with my evangelization team this Friday. Our parish is implementing a new program, Forming Intentional Disciples. I feel I’ve had this call to evangelize several years now but could not. Now I’m satiated with the joy of Christ. I have so much more I could say. My heart is overflowing with His love. Pray that our efforts will be fruitful.

I was sitting down to eat a bowl of ice cream when you started mentioning food… I was supposed to start a Whole30 May 1, but the kids were sick and I was super stressed so I gave in. Ok, I’ll do it already!

  • Gregor

I just wanna say…thank You thank you thank you so much!!!

A wonderful podcast! Thank you for being willing to share about your experience with anxiety. I would love to see you post your thoughts on Paleo…particularly the ideology behind it. I have recently begun to eliminate grains and dairy (and am trying to add in more good fats and protein and lots of veggies), but some of the ideology you mention in some Paleo books brings up some concerns. Please do share your post! Thank you and God bless!

    • I’ve written a post called “Is Paleo Lifestyle Christian?” but I haven’t published it yet.

Thank you for this podcast — the discussion on the Latin word, “anxius,” was especially helpful, as well as the part where you pointed out that if we are anxious we are disobeying Christ. I would really love to hear your input on the Paleo discussion. I have followed this diet for just over four years now; the last two, however, have been much more lax and I am very recently starting to be better committed to it again. It changed my life (along with CrossFit) and brought a level of health and fitness I had never known before and never thought possible for myself. I am tremendously curious to hear about the “interesting biblical parallels” that you have seen and also the ideologies that you don’t agree with. Not being a student of theology (until joining NSTI this week), I have been trying to reconcile the claims of Paleo with my understanding of creation and the history of humanity ever since coming back to the church three and a half years ago (having been gone for about 25 years after my parents’ divorce as a child). I would greatly appreciate hearing your much more highly informed perspective. Sorry for the long post!

As always, great podcast Dr. Marshall!!

  • maximusK

It was easily the best podcast you have done (so far!). Really enjoyed it. Also enjoyed that you kept the “advertisements” to a minimum, don’t remember hearing one until it was almost over.

That ‘no such thing as an answered prayer’, – pat answer, total fail

Outstanding podcast, Dr Marshall! My husband and I married at a very young age (47 years ago) and I would become so anxious over all the examples you listed that I would become physically ill. He would sit me down and ask what would be the worst case scenario if my fears came to pass. Whatever my answer was, he always had a solution for the worst case scenario. This would always bring me such peace. I’m a tad more spiritually mature now, but just thought I would share that. I’m also very excited to be a new NSTI member!
