#1 Catholic Advent Devotional: 33 Day Total Consecration to Mary for Advent

Like Lent, Advent is a season of preparation, but if you’re like me it’s hard to set apart Advent as something important.

Christmas commercialism strikes us even before Thanksgiving begins!

I want to recommend to you what I’ll be doing this Advent in preparation for Christmas: 33mary.com. It’s a free online Advent devotional that combines Advent with the 33 Day Total Consecration to Jesus through Mary, made popular by Saint Louis de Montfort and Father Michael Gaitley’s 33 Days to Morning Glory. We are calling it 33Mary.com. It will guide you day by day with teachings from the Saints and provide the necessary prayers to complete the 33 Day Total Consecration. Even if you’ve done it before, this is a great time to renew your consecration.

What is Total Consecration to Jesus through Mary?

Pope Saint John Paul II popularized the method of Total Consecration to Jesus through Mary. His papal motto was Totus Tuus meaning “Totally Yours.” He explained that his papal motto was the fruit of his own 33 Day Total Consecration to Mary. He was totally Mary’s because he wanted to be totally for Jesus. Saint John Paul II said that his  own 33 Day Total Consecration was the “decisive turning point” of his life before becoming Pope.

Why You Should Try 33Mary.com

It all boils down to Christ’s words on the cross: “Behold your mother!” This statement of Christ echoes again in every century and every decade. If we want to enter into His incarnation, birth, death, and resurrection, Mary’s presence is recommended by Christ Himself. As we prepare to celebrate His birth at Christmas, who better than Mary to lead us?

How We Made 33Mary.com So Easy

If you’ve ever done the 33 Day Consecration or tried it, you know that it can be confusing. There are various prayers to keep track of and you have to keep up with which day you’re on. Also, you need to carry a book with you. To simplify this devotion, we have created a free resource for you that makes it so much easier. We will email you the prayer and short saint reading every day. It’s that easy. You don’t have to remember a book, page numbers, or even what day it is. We do all that for you.

How this Total Consecration Works

For 33 days you’ll receive an inspirational quote or teaching from a Catholic Saint about Mary and her importance in your life as a follower of Christ. It begins on November 22 and the 33 days end on December 24. On Christmas morning, you (and perhaps your friends and family) will make a formal consecration of your life, soul, gifts, prayers, faith, works, and future to Jesus through the hands of Mary. Don’t worry, we provide these prayers for you. It’s a very beautiful experience.
