July: Month of the Sacred Blood of our Redeemer

Father Gary Selin of the Archdiocese of Denver reminded me that the month of July is dedicated to the Precious Blood of Jesus just as the month of June is dedicated to the Sacred Heart.

Father Selin explains July belongs to the Precious Blood this because 1 July is the “Feast of the Precious Blood” in the traditional calendar. Father also points us to the apostolic letter of Pope Blessed John XXIII on the Precious Blood of Christ: On Promoting Devotion to the Most Precious Blood ( June 6, 1960).

Corpus Christi, salva me.

Sanguis Christi, inebria me.

Aqua lateris Christi, lava me.

Passio Christi, conforta me.

O bone Iesu, exaudi me.

Intra tua vulnera absconde me.

Ne permittas me separari a te.

Ut cum Sanctis tuis laudem te
