How Do We Fight the Secular Agenda?
Over the last several days, I’ve received thousands of emails and notes from people all over the world. They are responding to the Saint George Manifesto. Reading these messages has been one of the most powerful experiences of my life. It’s a game-changer for me.
Here’s what I’ve learned:
- Good people are ticked off. The secular agenda is in full effect. No one can deny it. The secular agenda has extended its tentacles into public schools, college campuses, television, movies, marriage, kid shows…and now even the Boy Scouts. The cancer is everywhere and good people are ready for drastic treatment. “Bring on the chemo. Let’s fight this, even if it hurts. Even if it costs.”
- People are ready to take action. I don’t have all the answers. There are so many fronts. I go back and forth. Where do we begin? Scouts? Is Scout too modest? Do we go deeper? Colleges? Do we create films? How do we restore all things in Christ?
- This is bigger than all of us. People have been fighting on all these fronts. People have been starting schools, starting colleges, starting movements, creating films, starting radio stations, initiating campus ministries, writing books, starting priest groups, launching online apostolates, etc. An active tribe is forming. We are coming to know each other.
- Most importantly, our activities must be supernatural. Activism is only activism. Human nature without grace gets us nowhere. Signing petitions isn’t much. Joining groups accomplishes little. Supernatural acts require faith. Faith means feeling the sense of risk and doing it anyway. We must pray, study the Sacred Scriptures, live the seven virtues, pray the Rosary, support the Holy Father, and ask Christ to be King again. He’s waiting for us. He’s waiting for His army to turn to Him.
I’m more optimistic than I have ever been. Do not be discouraged. Become a modern day Mattathias Maccabeus who stood up when all seemed lost, and said:
“Let everyone who has zeal for the Law of God and who stands by the covenant follow me!” (1 Maccabees 2:27)
If you need encouragement, sit down and read 1 Maccabees. A small group of men risked everything – and they drove off the pagans who had desolated the Temple. They restored the glory of God.
Question: Let’s have a brain storming session. How do we make a deep and lasting impact in our cultures? How do restore all things in Christ? How do we bring about the glory of God? Please leave comments below…
